BlackBerry Playbook

BlackBerry PlayBook is a competitor to Apple’s iPad and a number of Android powered tablets. The PlayBook was released for general purchase in the United States on 19 April, 2011, and managed to sell 50,000 units on launch day. The PlayBook’s market share is 3.3 percent, compared to Apple’s 61.3 percent with its iPad and iPad 2 (iOS), and Google’s Android with 30.1 percent.



The PlayBook is based on the BlackBerry OS, and runs apps developed using Adobe AIR. It supports up to 1080p video playback and features 3 MP front-facing campers for video chatting and a 5 MP rear-facing camera. It is powered by 1 GHz Texas Instruments OMAP 4430 Cortex-A9 dual-core processor with 1 GB RAM. The PlayBook has a 1024×600 WSVGA, 7-inch display and 3D graphics acceleration. It also supports high resolution video playbacks, audio (MP3, AAC 5.1, WMA 5.1 audio playback) formats.
